Breathing into Twists

For this class you will need a blanket and yoga blocks.

We start off warming up the spine and dropping into awareness of our breathing in childs pose and cat cow movements of the spine. Then we do deeper longer twists while laying down. How do these twists influence how you breath when you try downward dog again? From there we continue out awareness of breathing in the standing poses. This class was filmed live July 24, 2021.

Blanket Yoga

For this class you will need a blanket and yoga blocks. In this sequence we use the blanket as a big hug to start off the class. This is a great way to get feedback on where you can feel your breathing. From there we continue to use the blanket in novel ways, working on hand strength while using it as a strap and then later pulling ourselves deeper into twists using the blanket. Weighted Breathing for a Wide Back Body

In this class we will again use a hand weight to warm up and encourage more breathing in the back body. You will also need wall space, yoga blocks and a blanket.

After the breathing warm up we throughly explore out hips and strengthen from all directions. In standing we give some extra love to ankles and knees. In our. flow sequence we come back again and again to breathing, reaching the hands down into the blocks to broaden the back body and find a fullness to the breath. Anterior and Posterior Body Working in Balance

For this class you will need one weight you can lift over head, wall space, a blanket and blocks.

We start off with breath work at the wall using your weight, a block between your knees and optional blanket under your head. Using a weight in this move actually makes it easier to find breathing in the back body. We continue to come back to this awareness in different shapes and orientations to gravity throughout the practice. We use a block for some fun and engaging core work to find stability in the anterior abdominal wall (whew!). We use all this stability to support us in challenging balance work; heal lifts from utkatasna and in short lunges. Hello calves, hamstrings and glutes! We save time to handstand work and then a long rest. This class was filmed live May 24, 2021.

Wrist Care Class for Side Plank Pose

For this class you will need a weight you can lift over head easily or a large water bottle or something you can hold easily that has some weight to it. You will also need a blanket and yoga blocks and a spot as the wall.

In this class we slow down and give our wrists extra attention. As you take the class see if the warm ups help plank pose feel better. In caring for our wrists we also stretch the neck and chest muscles. We work towards side plank poses. This class was filmed live May 22, 2021.

Full Body Tune Up

For this class we will start side lying, have a pillow or a blanket as a pillow.

You will also need a chair and yoga blocks for class. While side lying we spend some time taking deeper breaths, how often through out your day do you really breath fully in and out? We then warm up the hips and shoulders. After, we sit up and work on ankle mobility in a new way, remember don't push through cramping. We try out hip glides with the use of a chair and gravity and then work on our balance in standing poses. At the end of class we take a long rest in legs up the wall. Breathing to Bridge Pose

For this class set the short end of your mat at the wall, have a blanket and yoga blocks and a stretchy band or yoga strap for the beginning of class.

In this class we use our awareness of our breathing as a touchstone. We work on over head range of motion working actively with latisimus dorsi, the tricepts, and the front chest muscles. We also work further with hip flexors, taking it up a notch at the wall. This all aids in handstand work. After some standing poses we finish with active backbends and a long held supported bridge with variations. This class was filmed live April 26, 2021.

Tuesday Backbends

For this class you will need wall space, a chair without arms, yoga blocks, a blanket and a bolster.

This class starts off standing working on shoulder mobility and expanding breathing. From here we lengthen the hip flexors and create balance strengthening the back of the hip. All of this aides in belly down backbends and then wheel pose at the end of class. This class was filmed live April 19, 2021.

Quieting the Hip Flexors, Waking up the Glutes (and Serratus!)

For this class you will need a blanket or pillow for padding, yoga blocks and some wall space. You will also need a foam roller or two blankets rolled up in the shape of a foam roller to start with. I had so tech issues during this recording so please excuse the blurry video.

To generalize we are pretty hip flexor dominant because of posture and lots of sitting. In this class we work to elongate the spine and reverse this hip flexor dominance. Once out of this patterning we can stand more upright and ask our front and back bodies to work in balance with each other. Some fun bridge variations target the glute and unique plank pose moves to wake the back body at the shoulders, hello serratus anterior. We leave time to work on handstand and back bending for a well balanced class. This class was filmed live April 12, 2021.

Tall as a Tree

We continue our work today in getting taller and balancing front and back body. We then use this support in balancing poses like tree pose and dancers pose. This class was filmed life April 6, 2021.

Back Care Flow

For this class you will need a yoga block, blanket, and long resistance band.

Starting off we work on breathing and resetting the ribcage and pelvis for optimal breathing. We then work into mobilizing the hips and ribcage. Notice how it feels to sit upright after these warmups. We use the resistance bands to help warm up our shoulders and then use the block in a interesting way to gently strengthen our necks. Much of the time in our bodies stability needs to proceed mobilty. After standing poses we practice bridge pose and explore neck flexion in the supported pose. Hello Hamstrings Part 2

In this class you will need wall space, blocks and possibly a chair and bolster or two blankets.

We continue the work from Part 1 to find hamstring strength and then integrate it with foot, calf and hip strength. We explore this at the wall and then transition to standing poses. Get ready for warm hips and some core activated inversions! We end class with a variation of shoulderstand that highlights the importance of the back body. This class was filmed live Feb 22, 2021.

Hello Hamstrings Part 1

For this class you will need a slidable surface, so blanket if you are on a hard surface or plastic bags or paper plates if you are on carpet. You will also need blanket or bolster for sitting on, and a strap. We are going to do some moves from childs poses and I show a set up with two chairs if you prefer not to put weight on your knees in that way.

We spend a lot of time lengthening our hamstrings in yoga and in this class we practice coming into this length with control and stability. This new approach to stretching will help us to maintain the changes we are working on and help us to find strength and support more easily all throughout the practice. We explore one legged dead lifts to warrior III, triangle pose and side angle pose. This class will set you up well for going on a walk, hike or run. It was filmed live February 20, 2021.

A Little Weight Goes A Long Way

For this class you will need two small weights (2 lbs.) or two cans of soup. You will also need one yoga block and blanket or pillow for your head.

In this class we work on expanding the back ribs which is the perfect platform for the shoulder blades to move on! We use a small weight while reclining to fine tune shoulder mechanics and then continue this work in standing poses. In this non traditional sequence you can work on shoulder mobility and body awareness. We also work on internal rotation at the hip and strength in side plank.

At the end of class Boon my dog started barking at my neighbor, I edited it out for a peaceful ending, but it also came out a little bit choppy wording wise. This class was filmed live February 13th, 2021.

Yoga with a Blanket for Breathing Awareness

For this class you need a blanket that is as long as you are tall. You will also need a big wall space and yoga blocks.

We continue with spinal mobility in this class using our breathing to open up more awareness and space to move. The blanket aids in bringing more clarity to our back body. We build up to dolphin pose, where we maintain awareness of the back body and breathing in this challenging pose. Dont worry, there is lots of time to rest at the end with legs up the wall! Nervous System Reset, Hips and Breathing

Knee Strength

Taking Up Space

For this class you will need a strap, preferably that buckles, two yoga blocks or two blankets and possibly a chair. Continuing to develop your strength, now also add back in ease and a feeling of effortlessness and spaciousness into your practice. We revisit familiar poses like triangle and warrior 2, but with the awareness the strap can provide in taking up space in these poses. This class was filmed live January 2, 2021
