A Twisting Practice

For this class you will need wall space, blocks and a bolster.

We start off with legs up the wall and then hip stretches with the support of the wall. From there we progress to standing and taking more warm ups at the wall. The sturdy support of the wall can help us to feel grounded and more open as we move. From there we work into twists and end with Warrior 3, Half Moon and Revolved Half Moon poses. Working at the Wall

For this class bring the narrow end of your mat to the wall and have blocks and a blanket.

We start off standing for a change of pace and do some warm ups at the wall. The wall can offer some lovely support and a grounding feeling to the warm ups. We work on two hip glide moves to set the femur back into the socket and then work on deep breathing and hip external rotation while laying down. We continue to use that wall in support for lunges and our standing poses and work up to half moon and revolved half moon. And then we try out a few back bends. A Class at the Wall Part 3

For this class you will need wall space, a blanket and blocks.

We start off in a reclining warm up and then move into some warm ups on hands a knees. Here we move slowly to find the serratus anterior under the shoulder blades. This muscle helps move our arms around in space and also is a accessory muscle to breathing, helping us to open up more room to breath in the back body. From there we continue our practice at the wall, using the extra support for body awareness and stability. We then take these skills into our stand poses and balancing work. Twisting into Backbends

For this class you will need blocks and a blanket and a strap. We start off slow, warming up laying down. Today we practice the leg stretches in the strap after some lovely hip opening. From there we continue to find core strength while still and then while moving. This strengthen allows us to move deeper as we work into standing poses. In standing we work on moving the spine in all directions, this extra attention just may open up more room to twist in revolved triangle and revolved half moon pose. We end with the option to try camels pose, ustrasana. This class was filmed live November 1, 2021.

Long Spine for Twisting

For this class you may want a chair, we will also use yoga blocks and a blanket for padding.

This is a wonderful, active sequence! We start off with wrist warm ups, and then add in shoulders and hips. From there we first work on extension and flexion in the spine, this work can help lengthen and decompress the spine, giving us more room to twist. From there we build in twisting, first from a neutral spine and then with a side bend. All of these variations really help to access the full range of motion of the spine. We then use this in our standing twisting poses. The class was filmed live September 13, 2021.

Moving Your Spine in All Directions

In this class we work on moving in all different directions and maybe get into so places the sometimes get ignored. This class will leave you stretched out and possibly breathing with more ease.

You will need one long band, blocks and some wall space. Its helpful to set the narrow end of your mat up at the wall for the practice.

Twisting and Circular Movements of the Spine

For this class you will need a blanket at a pillow and optional long blanket rolled up like a big rope. You will also want yoga blocks or a chair for the standing poses.

We start slow and steady with a floor warm up, rolling up in spinal flexion to lengthen the spine before working on twisting. From there we work on more spinal work from standing. Then we work on the standing poses, see how it feels to twist after these warm ups. This class was filmed live July 19, 2021.

Get Twisted

Let's roll around and stretch out. This sequence feels so good. You will need a blanket as a pillow and some yoga blocks. We rock and roll in the beginning so pad up your mat if you need it. In this class we work towards so deeper twists, revolved triangle pose and revolved half moon pose. This class was filmed live June 5, 2021.

Copenhagen Side Plank and More

In this class you will need a wall space, blocks, and blankets, and a chair.

This class starts in a slow chest opened. We then alternate in highlighting outer hip strength and adductor strength. We warm up the shoulders in standing and prepare them for the Copenhagen side plank, a hold new take on plank. We put the pieces of the hip 'puzzle' together with a fun move at the wall using a block spacer to wake up the adductors while finding the outer hip. The standing poses fall into balance after all these great warm ups, including half moon, warrior III, and revolved half moon. This class was filmed live May 17, 2021.
