Pigeon Pose Variations Part 1

For this class you will need a strap, bolster, blankets, and blocks.

We start out laying down and emphasis the breathing during the warm up. This can help create more space in the inner body and aid in ease of movement. From there we continue to work into the shoulders and rest of the body as well in standing. We flow through standing poses to get deeper into twists and build strength in the body. At then of class we try out an upright version of pigeon pose with the option of an over hand reach for the back foot with the aid of a strap. This class was filmed live March 28, 2022.

Reaching into Poses Part 3

For this class you will need blocks and a blanket.

We start out with a reclining warm up to ease into our practice. From there we warm up the spine in all fours and then the shoulders while lying prone. This shoulder work helps set the upper arm bone more centered in the socket and allows for more ease and possibly range of motion as we continue on. From there we work deeper into the hips and ankles with our reaching work and then stretching in a one legged supported squat. From there we see how a new entry into standing poses influence the pose and then build but to skandasana, a long legged squat. See how reaching can influence how low you can go. Skandasana Side Lunge Class

For this class you will need a resistance band, blanket for padding and blocks.

Warm up your shoulders in this reclining resistance band sequence. From there we strengthen the anterior abdominal wall and stretch out the hip flexors from kneeling. We work towards deeper squats and a slide lunging squat known in yoga as skandasana. This class was filmed live July 10, 2021 with the help of my friend Flora.

Hello Adductors

For this you will need yoga blocks, a blanket and a chair.

Adductors play a big role in how our pelvis sits in neutral and how it moves throughout the day and in our yoga practice. We work on lengthening and strengthening in different positions including the Copenhagen side plank. Warrior II never felt so good, and possibly skandasana as well! Yoga with Sliding Part 2

You will need blankets for sliding (or paper plates/plastic bags if you are on carpet), another blanket, and at least two yoga blocks or a chair.

In this class we explore our feet, ankles and hips. Can you scrunch up your blanket with you toes? Can you lift your big toes and not your little toes? Give it a try in this class! This foot strength and awareness can translate into better balance and feeling more grounded as we shift our weight around in the standing poses. We also explore my favorite anti-slouching blanket slides. Putting this together we work up to skandasana, a one legged squat using the help of stacked blocks or a chair. At the end of class once student said her whole body felt relaxed by the end of class! This class was filmed live march 9, 2021.
